In spoken form

Read for most people so ordinary that we do not stand still what it would mean if we should miss. Blindness, visual impairment, old age or chronic illness are the main reasons why not just read (more) a possibility.

 

When reading the newspaper, journal, book, internet, the subtitles on TV, or anything else fails, it becomes clear how important reading is for the quality of our lives. Because reading is more than one source of information for us to take. Reading also offers inspiration, relaxation, comfort, humor, etc. In short, reading keeps us in touch with the world around us. And that is still a problem when you are blind or partially sighted.

Fortunately there is now much literature, including the release Baptisten.nu read in a custom form available. The CBB, Christian Library for the Blind and Partially Sighted in Ermelo, makes four times a year a spoken version of the publication Baptisten.nu.

Subscribers to the spoken version of each issue to receive a CD-ROM using a special listening device, called Daisy Player, can be heard. For people with reading difficulties, the costs of a Daisy Player generally reimbursed by the insurer.

 

The role of bystanders
Usually, people with reading disabilities at the existence of an organization like the CBB rejected by family, neighbors, friends, acquaintances or caretakers. The person in question may finally have little or no letters, advertisements and information leaflets read. Bystanders play a major role for a person with a disability read again the opportunity to be able to read. They prove that person does an enormous service, because weather can 'read' shows a view of a piece of joy that was dropped. Do you know people around you who can not read Baptisten.nu edition? Assign them to the spoken version!

Large collection of Christian literature
The CBB has a large collection of Christian magazines and newspapers in spoken form on CD-ROM, in Braille and large print. The Bible in different translations available in Braille and in spoken form. In addition to the CBB such Biblical diaries, psalm books and songbooks. Recently, the New Testament in the revision of the KJV translated into Braille and Daisy in spoken form on CD-ROM. Another new production is the 1773 Psalms and Hymns in 1938 brought together a large print edition.

Especially for the youth, the CBB in cooperation with the Dutch Bible Jongerenbijbel in Braille and in spoken form on CD-ROM issued Daisy. The Jongerenbijbel contains the text of the New Bible together with much information. Thus, for many additional explanations and texts are difficult words explained. And each has its own Bible, clear introduction.
